Moonlighter 2 Question Mark Material
Moonlighter 2 question mark material is the mystery-node search: unidentified loot, unidentified rooms, and the fear you skipped a mat. On the dungeon map, question marks are optional nodes. Nintendo World Report describes branching encounters and perk choices beside combat rooms. Those mystery stops hide Sliver backpack upgrades, Nou perk vendors, recipe pedestals, and NPC pairs. Skipping every question mark to rush Herald is how the bag stays tiny and how “I never saw Sun Eaters” threads start. This URL is the detour argument. It is not a fake drop table.
Why Moonlighter 2 question mark material is worth a detour

What can sit on a mystery node. Sliver, who is how backpack cells exist at all — the inventory pages on this site are the upgrade math; the point here is that you meet that vendor in a Kalina question-mark room. Nou perks. Recipe scrolls that look like relics (see the Steam still of a glowing podium). Father-and-child pairs in Aeolia that community pins use as Howling Harbor landmarks. Therapeutic flavor rooms in Night. None of those are guaranteed every run. Procedural maps shuffle. If a node is marked ?, click it unless you are already overweight and one hit from death.
Unidentified materials in the bag. New relics have unknown prices until faces print. That is Codex work, not a mystery node. Prima: Cheap, Perfect, Expensive, Overpriced on the base number; quality multiplies. A question-mark icon on an item is “unstamped,” not “go back to a mystery room.” Named mats (Sound of Hubris, candle, Core, rocket, masks, Sun Eaters, Echo Links, Stones, Quartz, Moon Flowers) should never be vendored because the icon was a ?. Keep them until the NPC animation plays. Nou can sell some discovered mats later — after you found them once.
Harbor and Night collisions. ccrowles used “first question mark” as the father-and-child pair next to a tiny ladder. That is a treasure hunt using a mystery node as a landmark. D.Jacket used an onsen corner in Kalina Night, which may also sit on a non-combat node. Do those after you understand ? rooms are not only vendors. Do not expect every ? to be a ladder.
Combat mystery rooms still have enemies sometimes. Bring a real stick. HEX, Poison, Bomb Path help packs. Jump floor, roll beams. Hardcore: a death dumps the run’s relics (TechTimes). Do not greed a legendary ? room in Hardcore until tells are boring. Infinite Vault will still show mystery nodes under gold pressure; fail the threshold and that threshold resets. Cosmetics from Infinite are not mats.
Greed and Glory added about twenty combat rooms and expanded Nou, Anacard, and Sliver perks. More reason to click ?. 1.0 added Bomb Path and aspects; it did not say mystery nodes went away. Shop rank 5 does not replace Sliver. Bloblets do not mark ? on the map.
Boss mats do not drop from random ?. Herald still has to die for Hubris. Thalaam for the candle. Curator for Core. Tyke for rocket. Senda and Monte for masks. Mystery nodes will not skip bosses. They will feed the stacks those crafts also want (Echo Links, Stones, Sun Eaters).
Mistakes: skipping all ? then buying a “material map”; shocking unidentified relics hoping they become Cores; putting a recipe scroll in a showcase; confusing unstamped Codex rows with mystery rooms; inventing a 750000 ? key.
Canonical URLs live on https://moonlighter2wiki.wiki. Dungeons page for biome structure. Relic-guide for keep versus sell. Howling Harbor and Kalina Night pages for landmark pins. Inventory pages for Sliver math. This URL is why the icon is worth the extra node.

Unidentified versus mystery
Unidentified in the bag means unstamped. Mystery on the map means a ? node. Players use this keyword for both. Stamp faces at home. Click ? in the dungeon. Nou cannot stamp a face. Prima’s test cannot replace Sliver cells. If you only do one, click ? until Sliver exists, because cells make every later mat possible.
What a ? is not. Not Herald. Not a guaranteed Core. Not a 750000 printer. Not Infinite Vault. Not a shop rank. Not a bloblet pen (those are town). Not furniture. It can be a father-and-child pair, a vendor, a perk, a scroll, a dead-end flavor room, or a fight. Procedural maps shuffle. If yesterday’s ? was Sliver, today’s can be trash. Still click when you can afford the time.
Harbor and Night use ? as landmarks. That does not make every ? a treasure. Read the dedicated treasure pages when you are hunting ladders or onsens. This page is the generic detour. Skipping all ? because one was a dead-end is how backpack guides start with “I never met Sliver.”
Hardcore greed. A juicy ? at low HP is how legendaries vanish. TechTimes. Normal mode: take it. Infinite: take it if the gold threshold still has room for a death. Paths: HEX/Poison/Bomb help if the mystery is actually a fight. Jump and roll still work in flavor rooms that were not supposed to be fights.
Greed and Glory expanded Nou, Anacard, and Sliver perks. More text on those vendors, more reason to meet them. 1.0 did not delete mystery nodes in the launch blog. Rank 5 did not replace them. Canonical: dungeons, relic-guide, harbor and night pins. Keep named mats even when the icon is a mystery.
A greed rule for mystery nodes. If the bag has a unique mat and you are one hit from death, skip the ? and go home. If the bag is commons and Sliver is unmet, take the ?. If Eris is open and the ? sits next to a portal, take the ? because optional paths hide stairs and ladders. If Hardcore is on, treat every ? as a wager. TechTimes does not care that the room was flavor. Infinite gold thresholds: a death can reset the threshold, which is a second tax on curiosity. Normal story keys: curiosity is the backpack guide.
Unstamped relics after a ? room still use Prima faces. Mystery on the map did not make them Cores. Named Cores still come from Curator. Do not shock unidentified drops hoping they promote. Relic-guide owns keep versus sell. This URL owns the detour.
Sliver first, Nou second, paper third is a decent ? priority when you can see the vendor. If you cannot see them until you enter, enter anyway on a healthy bar. Procedural rooms hide information on purpose. Nintendo World Report’s optional path language is why speed-only node picks starve bags. Starve enough bags and every later keyword on this site gets harder. Click the mark.
Click Moonlighter 2 question mark material nodes for Sliver, Nou, and scrolls, keep unidentified named mats until an NPC wants them, and do not treat an unstamped Codex row as a reason to skip the rest of the map.
