A Moonlighter 2 boss guide starts with The Herald because that fight gates Kalina Night, Andrei’s Old Days New Tech, and every later Vault key that assumes you can strip a shield. TheGamer (Axel Bosso, 19 November 2025) and NoobFeed (December 2025) agree on the three-phase structure. Herald sits at the end of Kalina’s Day Realm. You cannot chip the body until three shield bars fall. Each bar drops when you hit a ruptured object with the backpack and send it back into the boss. Cannons, fire shockwaves, exploding puddles, and a laser all exist to make that throw late.

Stay near center cover in phase one. Roll shockwaves; jump diagonally when two or three waves chain, which TheGamer prefers over a panic roll into a puddle. Red circles mark delayed cannon bombs — leave the circle, do not tank it. The laser can be rolled or blocked by cover. The ruptured object often lands where a puddle is about to pop or a wave is about to hit. Dodge first, throw second. After three returns the shield drops. Sprint in, empty the stick, and watch the double red circle under your feet: when the inner ring meets the outer, an explosion restores the shield. Repeat until about 30 percent of the life bar is gone.

How this Moonlighter 2 boss guide reads Herald’s later phases

Phase two deletes one cover and spawns four regular enemies. Herald waits. Kill them with the melee weapon so the gun charges for the boss. When attacks resume you have less cover, small fire shots layered on cannon fire, a laser that sweeps twice, and two or three shockwaves in a row. Same shield job: three backpack returns, burst, leave before the circle bomb. At roughly 60 percent life, phase three deletes the last cover. The laser is now a roll-through. Roll toward the side it comes from. Projectile density is the only new joke. Finish the shield cycle until Herald dies.

Rewards are two loot chests plus The Sound of Hubris. That mat closes Andrei’s Old Days, New Tech and, if you talk to him, the recipe for Sun and Moon Ballad gauntlets. Kalina Night unlocks. A screenshot with three chests is an upgrade, not a third guaranteed drop. This site will not invent drop rates.

NoobFeed’s related list names later bodies you will actually meet: Thalaam (Night Realm, Alabaster Candle), The Curator (Gallery, Quantum Core), Tyke (Gallery second area, Broken Rocket), Senda and Monte in Aeolia (left and right king masks). Steam stills on this page show Tyke’s vault arena because that is the visual players search after Herald. Treat each as a tell exam, not a DPS check. Guns (Blob Gun starter, Blo-Beam after a Gallery run via Babyl, Blo-Blitz from Greed and Glory, Blo-Blaster from Aeolia treasure) exist for flying or far bosses. HEX, Poison, Thunder, and Bomb Path are room clearers; they do not replace jump versus roll.

When jump beats roll, and the broom dare

Ground waves want a jump. Lasers want a roll. Mixing those two inputs is the entire “jump for 1st boss” search. Spanish and English queries for the first boss are the same fight. If you only roll, consecutive shockwaves clip you. If you only jump, the laser eats you in phase three.

Weapon Mastery from Nou and Anacard asks you to beat any boss with the Old Broom, the worst stick in the game. TheGamer recommends Herald because it is the easiest body once the shield language is learned. Do that on a file that can afford a slow kill. Hardcore 1.0 is not the place: TechTimes says a dead run dumps every relic from that expedition.

Greed Colosseum (Greed and Glory) is a wave mode with mini-bosses, not a story boss list. Infinite Vault after Vault VII is a gold threshold per run, not a new named Herald. Vault VII closes the story; it is not a public HP table. This page will not invent gold keys or unofficial HP bars.

Mistakes that extend the first fight

Throwing the ruptured object while standing in a puddle. Using the gun on the four adds in phase two and arriving at the burst window empty. Hugging a wall so consecutive waves have no diagonal. Greeding a full vendor bag into the arena so one hit deletes the day’s profit. Skipping mystery nodes, then walking into Herald with the broom because Andrei never got four Sun Eaters.

A Moonlighter 2 boss guide that only pastes phase percents without the backpack language will get you killed on the first shield. Remember: three throws, burst, leave the circle, repeat. Then Kalina Night, then Thalaam, then Gallery, then Aeolia, then Vault VII. Canonical URLs live on https://moonlighter2wiki.wiki.

Practice the throw on a normal file, stamp Perfect prices so the next weapon exists, and only then open Hardcore. Tyke, Curator, Senda, and Monte remix the same verbs with less cover and worse floors.

Nintendo World Report’s Switch 2 review is useful even on PC: maps are nodes, each encounter is a skirmish or a perk choice, a mini-boss sits halfway, and the real body waits at the end. That is why Herald feels like a language exam. You already paid in rooms. The boss is the receipt.

TheGamer’s phase percents (30, then 60) are Early Access observations, not a Steam tooltip. If a 1.0 patch retunes HP, believe the bar on screen. Jump tells and backpack returns did not vanish in September. CGMagazine’s PS5 review argued 3D silhouettes read worse than 2018 pixel tells; that is a reason to stand center and give yourself more pixels of telegraph, not a reason to skip the fight.

Tyke’s Steam still is a later Gallery exam with pink projectiles and less emotional support. Curator is electricity and the Quantum Core. Thalaam is the Night Realm candle. Senda and Monte split a mask. Police Jurisdiction and Jail of the Lustrous are Babyl tasks that are really boss errands. If you came from a Spanish search for the first boss, you are still in Kalina Day. There is no second first boss.

Greed Colosseum waves will remix mini-bosses across biomes. That mode is optional pride. Story progress is Herald, biome bodies, Vault VII. Infinite Vault does not add a secret eighth story boss in the launch notes. Hardcore is the same bodies with a dumped bag.

Controller aim helps gun windows on flying later bosses. Mouse on PC is fine in town and clumsy in a laser. Steam discussions about rebinds are a 1.0-adjacent warning: if the pad works, finish Herald before you live in the rebind menu.

If two guides disagree on whether to jump or roll a shockwave, jump the ground wave and roll the laser. That sentence is the entire search intent of “jump for 1st boss.”

Trailers on this site (uZW8MwekNHk, 7Av9DJexkp8, -Sh-gUEt2T4) are marketing. They will not teach the ruptured throw. Watch them for tone; practice in Kalina. The announcement line “how much can you take” is Moloch flavor, not a mechanic.

If you die, the room is still a node on the map. NWR complained that restarting a dungeon after a fall has little carry-forward besides knowledge. Knowledge is the point of Herald. The second attempt is cheaper than a new weapon you cannot use because you never learned the laser.

Later Vault floors in 1.0 remix those verbs under gold pressure. Infinite Vault’s failed threshold reset is a gold fail, not a unique boss script. Do not search for a Herald HP exploit. There isn’t a public one here, and this site will not publish attack procedures that invent i-frames Digital Sun never wrote down. Jump, roll, throw, burst, leave the circle.

Use this Moonlighter 2 boss guide until Herald’s shield is boring, because every later vault fight is that boredom with extra projectiles.
