Moonlighter 2 game pass is a day-one include on Xbox and PC, not a rumor. TechTimes (2 September 2026) says Ultimate and PC Game Pass carry the full 1.0 at no extra cost from launch morning. XboxHub lists Ultimate, Premium, and PC tiers and notes the game joining Game Pass on Xbox and PC as part of the five-platform ship. The Xbox store page (product 9ndjx252q5bw) shows Play Anywhere, Series X|S plus PC plus Cloud, 4K, 60 fps+, VRR, Handheld Optimised, six accessibility features, ten languages, PEGI 12, in-app purchases, and a cloud-playable line that distinguishes Premium/Ultimate from Essential (purchase required to stream on Essential). Read your tier. Essential is not the same promise.

Xbox Game Preview existed during Early Access on Microsoft’s side while Steam had EA. 1.0 is the graduation of both. Play Anywhere means a Series console file and a PC Xbox-app file can share progress. It will not read Steam Cloud. Two PC stores are two ecosystems.

How Moonlighter 2 game pass actually licenses 1.0

Official Steam still: the full 1.0 town-and-shop loop is in Game Pass day one.

You get the campaign: Vault VII, Infinite, Hardcore, shop 5, Bomb Path, Endless aspects, extra Bloblet seat. You do not get Silver Lining’s metal coin. You may still see in-app purchases for patio, artbook, soundtrack — store copy says offers IAP. This page will not invent whether those DLC sit inside the subscription. Open the manage-game screen on your console. If Zen Patio is a separate tile, it is a separate tile.

Official Steam still: subscription license, not the Silver Lining collector box.

Cloud gaming is listed. Input lag on a shop tumbler is a personal tax. Herald throws want a pad in the room if you can. Handheld Optimised is Microsoft’s badge, not a Switch cart.

When Game Pass is the right SKU

If you already pay Ultimate, this is the cheapest legal 1.0. If you only want a weekend, HowLongToBeat’s ~14 hour main story fits a trial better than a $29.99 impulse, with the usual caveat that trials change. If you want plastic, wait for November on another platform. If you want Steam Workshop fantasies, you still will not get them here.

Leaving Game Pass later can lock the license. Play Anywhere does not convert into a Steam key. Buy Steam if you want Valve forever.

Mistakes subscribers make

Assuming PS Plus. Assuming Switch. Assuming Essential streams it free (the store’s Essential sentence says purchase required to stream). Assuming Preview saves vanished — check the 1.0 transfer; Steam news talked community saves on PC, Microsoft’s Preview path should graduate, but if a prompt appears, read it. Do not pick an old empty cloud over a Preview town.

Moonlighter 2 game pass is the Microsoft path into the same Tresna. Canonical URLs live on https://moonlighter2wiki.wiki.

A Moonlighter 2 game pass install still needs Sliver, Herald, and Perfect stamps. The subscription only pays the door.

XboxHub’s launch post is the console-flavored 1.0 recap: story close, Bomb Path explosions, shop rank 5, Infinite after the campaign, Hardcore as a full-run wipe. That copy matches Steam news. The subscription does not trim those systems. You are not on a demo inside Ultimate.

Play Anywhere is the actual Microsoft extra. Start on Series X, continue on PC Game Pass, Cloud if you must. Steam remains a third island. Do not delete the Xbox file because you also bought Steam in a sale.

Cloud playable on Premium/Ultimate is the store’s wording. Essential’s “purchase required to stream” is the gotcha that generates angry weekend threads. Read the SKU you pay for.

PEGI 12 moderate violence, mild swearing is the European rating on the Xbox page. It is not a feature. Handheld Optimised is for ROG Ally-class Microsoft handhelds, not Switch.

Sixty fps plus and 4K and VRR are Series X badges. They do not change Herald’s throw. They do make the 3D read cleaner than Switch 2’s 30.

IAP warning: patio, artbook, soundtrack exist as add-ons on Steam at $4.99/$4.99/$9.99. Microsoft may mirror them. A subscription that includes the campaign can still upsell a patio. Look before you click.

Leaving the service: Microsoft’s standard is you lose access unless you buy the game. Buy-out tiles exist on many GP titles; if one appears, it is a real purchase, not Play Anywhere magic into Steam.

Preview-to-1.0: TechTimes says ~10 months of EA and Game Preview. Your Preview town should be the 1.0 town. If a conflict popup appears, keep the file with Perfect stamps and Sliver cells.

Day one on GP is why some people will never see a Steam key. That is fine. The cube is the same.

If you are on PC and already own Steam, GP is a second install. Two cubes. Two Codexes. Pick one to finish Vault VII.

Physical Xbox disc is not in Silver Lining’s November plan. Digital or subscription.

This page is not a price tracker for Ultimate’s monthly fee. It is a license map.

TechTimes also notes a free demo on Steam and PS5. Game Pass is better than a demo if you already subscribe: you get Vault VII, not a slice. If you do not subscribe, the demo on another platform is the cheaper taste.

Series S versus X: both are listed. Handheld Optimised covers Microsoft’s handheld story. Neither is Switch.

Accessibility six features are worth opening before Herald. This wiki will not invent the list. The store says six. Look at the tick boxes.

Languages ten match Steam’s ten. Set language before Codex so stamps match English guides if you are using this site’s English body.

Cloud saves on Xbox are Microsoft’s. They are the reason Play Anywhere works. They are not Steam.

If Ultimate’s catalog drops the game later, that is catalog risk. Buy-out if you still care about Infinite cosmetics.

Day-one GP is also why review-week servers and patch weight sit on Microsoft’s CDN as well as Valve’s. Play the file you have.

Xbox store release field 9/2/2026 is the same morning as Steam. There is no GP-only delay. There is no GP-only extra biome.

If you play on Cloud, expect shop tumblers to feel worse than a local Series X. Herald is the test. If Cloud throw latency bothers you, download.

In-app purchases plus subscription is normal Microsoft copy. Campaign first. Patio later if ever.

This license map does not replace the hub guide. After you are in Tresna, go stamp prices and meet Sliver.

Catalog screenshots will look like Steam stills because they are the same game. You are not missing a Microsoft story.

Buy-out versus stay subscribed is a money question for Infinite cosmetics, not for seeing the ending. Fourteen hours of campaign fit inside a month you already pay for.

Check the manage-game screen for DLC tiles. Then go to town.

Town-save. Jump waves. Roll lasers. Check your tier, then open the shop.

Use this Moonlighter 2 game pass page to check your tier, then go play before the cube cares how you paid.
